Dear Friends,

The year 2001 brought many changes. The outpouring of continued support to the Friends of José Carreras International Leukemia Foundation following the tragedy of September 11th has been overwhelming.

On October 11th Mr. Carreras had the honor of performing at Carnegie Hall. This performance has been characterized by many as one of his best ever. As a tribute to all those who suffered in the tragic events of September 11th and in acknowledgement of the effect of these events on the entire world, Mr. Carreras sang a prayer in his native Catalan language. His rapport with the audience was tremendous. He received eight standing ovations and sang seven encores!

We are hoping to have Mr. Carreras perform in Seattle in late October of this year. We will keep you informed, as the plans evolve.
