The José Carreras International Leukemia Foundation based in Barcelona will benefit from
the sale of a new cookbook, Josep Carreras. Gastronomia Musical. Un menu Para cada opera.
The recipes, over 125 of them, were chosen to represent the time and place of 40 operas chosen
by José Carreras. The book, with forward by Mr. Carreras, includes a CD with the following
arias:
- "Celeste Aida", Aida (Giuseppe Verdi)
- "La Fleur Que Tu M’avais Jetée", Carmen (Georges Bizet)
- "Io L’ho Perduta!", Don Carlo (Giuseppe Verdi)
- "Vesti La Giubba", Pagliacci (Ruggero Leoncavallo)
- "Rachel! Quand du Seigneur", La Juive (Jacques-Fromental-Ilie-Halivy)
- "Ah, Lève-toi, Soleil", Roméo et Juliette (Charles Frangois Gounod)
- "Nessun Dorma", Turandot (Giacomo Puccini)
In the cookbook’s forward, Mr. Carreras writes, "Opera, ultimately, tells stories, and these stories unfold in certain times and places. Each time and each place has produced a series of traditional dishes that enrich us culturally and through which we can add a touch of imagination and the exotic to our daily diet. We can renew our cuisine with what we can call 'gastronomia musical.'"
The book is available for ordering online from the Spanish website http://www.es.bol.com.
