It All Adds Up

In our ongoing effort to raise money to fund leukemia research, the Friends would like to try something new. In each edition of our newsletter there will be a suggestion of something you can do to help raise money to fight this disease. The ideas will be ones that enable all to participate no matter what your financial circumstances might be. The amount you raise each month will, most likely, not be staggering, but believe us when we say it all adds up!

Our first idea is for you to return all bottles, cans or newspapers that accumulate around the house from the time you receive this newsletter through the end of July. Some states pay a few cents for each can or bottle returned for which a deposit was paid (see box). Other areas have recycling centers which will pay by the pound for certain recyclable materials. You might even have your children or grandchildren scout around the neighborhood collecting bottles, cans or newspapers. Perhaps you can even suggest the idea to friends and other family members. At that time, please send a check to the Friends’ Seattle office. Please note "it all adds up" on the memo line, and we’ll report funds received as of July 25 in our next newsletter.

Once again, thank you for your continued support of the Foundation and the work we do together.
