Robert A. Weiss was voted in as a new Friends board member at this
year’s meeting in September. He brings additional fund raising experience
and business knowledge to the board.
Bob was born and raised in Glencoe, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. He
graduated from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. An economics major, his
main interest was political and economic philosophy.
He has been involved in the investment field for more than twenty years,
first as an independent marker maker on the trading floor of the Chicago
Board of Options Exchange, then serving on various committees of the
Exchange. He and his family now live in Orinda, California, where he is
working with three partners and running a specialist post on the Pacific
Options Exchange in San Francisco.
The family includes his wife of fifteen years, Ofra, and three sons
ages 8-13. For hobbies, Bob has coached soccer and baseball for the past
eight years. He also enjoys traveling with his family.
Robert Weiss has devoted time to several charitable endeavors. His help
has benefitted Kenyon College Career Development Center, research programs
at the Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago, and Chicago’s Lyric
Opera Association.
